This has led some scholars to believe that the \expndtw-5 two brothers were on terms of enmity, and that there was \expndtw-1 a partition of the empire between them after a fratrici\-\expndtw3 dal fight. The theory is, however, altogether unten\-\expndtw-7 able, since such omissions are by no means rare in ancient \expndtw-5 Indian epigraphic documents, and the available evidence \expndtw-4 conclusively proves that Skandagupta was a powerful \expndtw2 monarch ruling over the entire Gupta dominions. On \expndtw-2 his coins Puragupta assumes the title, "Sri-Vikramah", \expndtw-3 and in the opinion of Hoernle those pieces, which have \expndtw-5 the legend "Prakas'aditya" on the reverse, are also to be \expndtw1 attributed to him.\super 2\nosupersub  It is difficult to determine with precision the extent of his kingdom or the duration of \expndtw-1 his reign.}\par \pard \plain \cbpat8\qc\li18\fi0\ri0\sb176\sa0 \f1\fs20{\b0\i\cf1\charscalex100\expndtw-3\f1\cchs0\lang1033\fs23 Narasimhagppta}\par \pard \plain \cbpat8\qj\li4003\fi446\ri22\sb148\sa0\sl-241\slmult0 \f1\fs20{\b0\i0\cf1\charscalex100\expndtw1\f1\cchs0\lang1033\fs25 Puragupta's successor was his son, Narasiniha-\expndtw-4 gupta, by Vatsadevi.
